About

Rooted in Tradition.

Leading for the Future.

O’KANATA (OH-KAH-NAH-TAH) is an Indigenous youth-led, federally incorporated nonprofit organization empowering Indigenous youth across Turtle Island and beyond. Founded in 2019 and incorporated in 2023, we have grown from grassroots beginnings in Manitoba to gaining recognition from the United Nations and World Trade Organization for our innovative, Indigenous-led programs.

O’KANATA is named after the Haudenosaunee word ‘Kanata’, meaning ‘Village’. This is also the origin of the name, Canada.

We exist to create lasting, community-based solutions that enhance leadership, education, culture, and sustainability. Our initiatives connect Indigenous knowledge with modern innovation, preparing youth to thrive in an ever-changing world while honouring their roots.
